Ο Dr. Βαρναλίδης είναι τριπλά πιστοποιημένος Πλαστικός Χειρουργός, της Ελληνικής Επιτροπής Πλαστικής Χειρουργικής, του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου Πλαστικής, Επανορθωτικής & Αισθητικής Χειρουργικής (EBOPRAS) και της Τουρκικής Επιτρόπης Πλαστικής & Επανορθωτικής Χειρουργικής έχοντας αριστεύσει στις εξετάσεις και των τριών επιτροπών.

“Αποφοίτησα από την Ιατρική σχολή του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης και ακολούθως ειδικεύτηκα στη Γενική Χειρουργική της Χειρουργικής κλινικής του Γ.Ν.Θ. “Γ. Παπανικολάου”. Εν συνεχεία, ειδικεύτηκα στην Πλαστική Χειρουργική στην Κλινική Πλαστικής Χειρουργικής, Εγκαυμάτων και Χειρουργικής Χειρός του Γ.Ν.Θ. “Γ. Παπανικολάου”.

Η εξοικείωση μου στις πιο σύγχρονες Αισθητικές και Επανορθωτικές χειρουργικές τεχνικές αναπτύχθηκε μέσα από τις μετεκπαιδεύσεις μου στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες της Αμερικής και της Ευρώπης. Η πρώτη μου μετεκπαίδευση πραγματοποιήθηκε στην πολιτεία του Houston, USA και συγκεκριμένα στα νοσοκομεία Texas Children Hospital και The Methodist Hospital, όπου είχα τη τιμή να βρεθώ και να εκπαιδευτώ δίπλα στους αξιοσέβαστους καθηγητές Πλαστικής Χειρουργικής, τους Prof. Samuel Stal και Dr. Larry H. Hollier, Jr., καθώς και τον Dr. Jeffrey Friedman. Κατά τη διάρκεια της παραμονής μου σε αυτά τα κέντρα, εξειδικεύτηκα στις νεότερες τεχνικές της Αισθητικής και Επανορθωτικής Χειρουργικής, καθώς και στις συγγενείς δυσπλασίες του προσώπου και της άκρας χειρός.

Ο δεύτερος σημαντικός σταθμός στη μετεκπαίδευση μου, έλαβε μέρος στο γνωστό πανεπιστήμιο του Yale (Yale School of Medicine) στο New Haven της πολιτείας του Connecticut, USA. Εκεί είχα τη τιμή να εκπαιδευτώ από διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένους επιστήμονες, όπως τον Prof. John A. Persing και τον Prof. Ariyan Stephan, δίνοντας μου την ευκαιρία να εκμαιεύσω τις τελευταίες εξελίξεις στην Πλαστική Χειρουργική και στην Επανορθωτική Χειρουργική των κρανιοπροσωπικών συγγενών ανωμαλιών. Ακολούθως, συνέχισα και σε άλλες μετεκπαιδεύσεις, μία εκ των οποίων ήταν στο Coupure Centrum voor Plastische Chirurgie και στο E:MC², Estetisch Medisch Centrum στην πόλη της Γάνδης του Βελγίου, όπου έγινα δεκτός και ολοκλήρωσα το Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship, δίπλα στους Dr. Patrick Tonnard και Dr. Alexis Verpaele και στο Sint–Lucas General Hospital με τον Prof. Koenraad Van Landuyt. Κατά τη διάρκεια του Fellowship μου εξειδικεύτηκα στις πιο σύγχρονες τεχνικές της Αισθητικής Χειρουργικής του προσώπου, όπως το MACS lift, το Brow lift, το Microfat grafting (Lipofilling), της Αισθητικής Χειρουργικής του μαστού και της κοιλίας, καθώς και της αποκατάστασης του μαστού μετά από μαστεκτομή.

Είμαι visiting physician στο Τμήμα Πλαστικής Επανορθωτικής και Αισθητικής Χειρουργικής και Χειρουργικής Άκρας Χειρός του πανεπιστημιακού νοσοκομείου Selcuk Universtiy του Ικονίου στην Τουρκία. Το τμήμα με καθηγητή τον Prof. Zekeriya Tosun αποτελεί ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα κέντρα γναθοπροσωπικής χειρουργικής με περιστατικά χειλεοσχιστιών και γναθοσχιστιών της Τουρκίας.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της ειδίκευσης μου απέκτησα το τίτλο του διδάκτορα στην Ιατρική Σχολή του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης, όπου έλαβα με ομοφωνία το βαθμό άριστα. Έχω δημοσιεύσει και συνεχίζω να έχω ενεργό ρόλο στη δημοσίευση αρκετών μελετών σε διεθνή και ελληνικά περιοδικά και υπήρξα ερευνητής σε διεθνή μελέτη. Επιπλέον, συμμετείχα ως ομιλητής σε έναν αξιόλογο αριθμό μελετών σε ελληνικά και διεθνή συνέδρια και είμαι κριτής σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά.

Ο Dr. Βαρναλίδης είναι μέλος (full member) της Αμερικάνικης Εταιρίας Πλαστικών Χειρουργών (ASPS), της Ελληνικής Εταιρίας Επανορθωτικής και Πλαστικής Χειρουργικής (HESPRAS), Fellow of European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aethetic Surgery (EBOPRAS), member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), member of the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS) και member of the Turkish Medical Association (TBB).

Συνεχίζω να παραμένω ενήμερος για τις πιο σύγχρονες εξελίξεις των τεχνικών της Πλαστικής Χειρουργικής, με την ενεργή συμμετοχή μου σε επιστημονικές συναντήσεις και τη συνεχή ενασχόληση μου με την εφαρμογή των σύγχρονων μεθόδων. Ο στόχος μου είναι η επίτευξη του βέλτιστου αισθητικού και λειτουργικού αποτελέσματος με διατήρηση της φυσικότητας των χαρακτηριστικών. Η δική σας ικανοποίηση είναι και δική μου. Θεωρώ ότι η εξοικείωση μου με τις πιο σύγχρονες τεχνικές μπορούν να το πετύχουν.

Αποτελώ μέλος της Ιατρικής ομάδας Εθελοντών της Πανελλήνιας Ἐνωσης Καππαδοκικών Σωματείων (Π.Ε.Κ.Σ.). Η Ιατρική ομάδα έχει απλόχερα προσφέρει της υπηρεσίες της σε αρκετά μέρη της Ελλάδος με επέκταση και στο εξωτερικό, εξετάζοντας χιλιάδες συνανθρώπους μας και προσφέροντας τους συνολική θεραπευτική προσέγγιση σε κάθε τους πρόβλημα. Ο εθελοντισμός δεν πρέπει να αποτελεί μόνο μια λέξη αλλά πρέπει να γίνεται καθημερινή πράξη, αυτός πιστεύω είναι και ο δρόμος για ένα πιο υγιές μέλλον.

Η επιλογή του Πλαστικού Χειρουργού αποτελεί ζήτημα μείζονος σπουδαιότητας, αφού οφείλει να χαρακτηρίζεται από ήθος, ειλικρίνεια, χειρουργική κρίση και επιστημονική κατάρτιση. “I graduated from the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I completed my internship in General Surgery at the Surgical Department of the George Pananikolaou General Hospital of Thessaloniki. Afterwards, I completed my residency in Plastic Surgery at the Plastic Surgery, Burn and Hand Surgery Department of the George Pananikolaou General Hospital of Thessaloniki. I familiarized myself with the most modern aesthetic and reconstructive surgical techniques during my additional training in the United States and in Europe. The first part of my training took place at the Texas Children Hospital and the The Methodist Hospital of Houston, where I was lucky enough to be trained by the Plastic Surgery professors Prof. Samuel Stal, Dr. Larry H. Hollier, Jr. and Dr. Jeffrey Friedman. During my stay there, I became specialized in the latest aesthetic and reconstructive surgery techniques, as well as in congenital malformations of the hand and face. The second part of my training took place at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, where I had the honor to be trained by internationally recognized scientists, such as Prof. John A. Persing and Prof. Ariyan Stephan. During this part of my training, I had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the fields of plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery focusing on craniofacial congenital anomalies. I continued my training at the Coupure Centrum voor Plastische Chirurgie and at the Estetisch Medisch Centrum (E:MC²) in Ghent. I was also trained by Dr. Patrick Tonnard and Dr. Alexis Verpaele during my Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship, as well as by Prof. Koenraad Van Landuyt at the Sint–Lucas General Hospital. During my fellowship, I became specialized in the most modern techniques of facial aesthetic surgery, such as the MACS lift, the brow lift and Microfat grafting (Lipofilling), as well as in breast and abdomen aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy.

During my residency, I was awarded a doctorate degree “summa cum laude” from the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I have published and continue to publish several studies in international and Greek journals and I have also taken part in an international study as a researcher. Furthermore, I participated as a speaker in several Greek and international conferences.

I am a full member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), of the Hellenic Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (HESPRAS), a fellow of the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS), a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) and a member of the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS) and a member of the Turkish Medical Association (TBB).

I stay updated on the latest developments in plastic surgery techniques by participating in scientific meetings and being constantly involved with the application of modern methods. I am a member of the Volunteer Medical Team of the Panhellenic Union of Cappadocian Societies. Volunteering shouldn’t only be a word devoid of meaning. I believe it should be an everyday practice, as this is the only way to a healthier future.
