MACS lift

MACS lift

In recent years, more and more patients want to aesthetically improve their facial features in order to regain a youthful appearance.
The MACS lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension Lift) technique is the most modern facelift technique that offers an ideal natural result. The main difference between the MACS lift technique and the rest of the facelift techniques is that this procedure is minimally invasive and can also be performed under local anesthesia. This procedure also takes less time, leaves smaller scars and requires a shorter recovery period. Furthermore, it can be combined with other surgical procedures, such as the brow lift, Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and lipofilling, aiming at an overall facial rejuvenation.

Brief description of the procedure

The MACS lift technique starts with a neck liposuction, followed by an incision at the preauricular region (before the ear) extending upwards to the temporal scalp region. Afterwards, the temporal fascia is stitched in order to bring the soft tissue back to its original position and support it, as it has started to sag due to gravity. The last part of the procedure is a vertical vector facelift, as opposed to the classic horizontal one.

Dr. Varnalidis was trained by Dr. Patrick Tonnard andDr. Alexis Verpaele who were the first to develop and implement the MACS lift technique, during his fellowship at the Coupure Centrum voor Plastische Chirgurgie and EMC² in Ghent. Dr. Varnalidis specializes in using the latest techniques in order to achieve a permanent and natural result.
